I have visited New York City twice now. The first time was in May pre-Covid, and the second time was in September 2021 during the pandemic. Read through this article to find details on the weather, Covid restrictions, and how the tourism season is during these months.
May was a bit chilly and rainy. A light jacket and an umbrella was needed for my week-long visit to the Big Apple.
It’s a fact that the weather in September is perfect in New York. During the day it’s in the high 70s and low 80s, and at night the temperature is in the high 60s.
Covid Restrictions in 2021
Many restaurants in Manhattan require proof of vaccine in order to dine. The Tavern on the Green has a designated area for people who are non-vaccinated or had no proof of vaccination. This area is separated on their patio with a total of 6 tables.
In Times Square, it is common to find tents that offer free Covid-testing.
Masks are required indoors everywhere, and about 50% of people wear them outside walking around.
May and September are good times to visit because it’s low tourism season and the weather is good.
