If you’re staying in Los Angeles and wanting to take a day trip up to Santa Barbara, here is the itinerary you need!
Just before you get into Santa Barbara, you drive through a town called Montecito. I think of it as a smaller version of Santa Barbara because it’s also a posh beach town with a main street for shopping and dining. Along that main street is an authentic French Bakery and Cafe called Bree’Osh. Here you can indulge in the most delicious almond croissant you’ll ever have in your life, coffee, and an entree. Sit on the patio to watch all the stunning Ferraris and Lamborghinis drive past while you eat, then take a walk down that shopping and dining strip.
After breakfast, head to The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. It’s a great place to learn about Southern California’s ocean-related history. You can read more about it in my next blog post.
Afterwords, head to State Street. State Street is the iconic place to shop and dine in Santa Barbara. Here, I bought two books at The Book Den, got ice cream at McConnell’s, and picked up a tank top in Free People. There’s an art museum located on State Street too, but it is currently closed due to the pandemic.
Lunch & Afternoon Activities
Santa Barbara has many wineries and breweries – even along State Street – so enjoy the afternoon sipping and eating at one of these cool places! I highly recommend Third Window Brewing even though it is not along State Street.
