I recommend getting an explorer pass if it’s your first time in Los Angeles, and you plan on going on a lot of paid excursions.
Day 1: Explore Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles has a lot of cool buildings and retail centers to shop in. The Last Bookstore, Grand Central Market, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Angels Flight Railway, and Bradbury Building are located fairly close to each other which makes walking around the perfect way to see the city. There are quite a bunch of parking lots in Downtown that are located near all these sights, so there’s no need to worry about parking.
Day 2: Explore Hollywood
Here is a list of fun things to do in Hollywood!
- Stroll down the Walk of Fame
- Shop at Hollywood & Highland. There’s a great photo opportunity with the Hollywood sign on the bridges.
- See the Chinese Theater
- Hike to the Hollywood sign
- Go on a sightseeing bus tour
- Tour studios such as Paramount or Warner Brothers
- Visit the Museum of Illusions
- Meet celebrities at the Wax Museum
- Catch a music performance at the Hollywood Bowl
Day 3: Beach Day
Check out one of my five recommended beaches! If you’re looking for the ultimate tourist experience, I recommend walking down the Venice Beach Boardwalk from the Venice Pier to the Santa Monica Pier. You can eat, shop, play on the rings, and people watch while walking down the Boardwalk, and enjoy the iconic rollercoaster rides and ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. After all the fun on the beach, you can walk across the street and shop at Third Street Promenade.
Day 4: Day Trip to Catalina Island
Pack a bikini and good walking shoes to explore Avalon or Two Harbors. Take the Catalina Express early in the morning, and catch up on sleep during the two hour ferry ride.
There are many ways to explore Catalina Island, such as a safari tour, renting a golf cart, kayaking, or just walking around. Check out my articles on the island here.
Day 5: Enjoy an Adventure Park and a Sports Game
The top adventure parks in Los Angeles are Disneyland Park, Disneyland Adventure Park, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Los Angeles is home to many different sports teams: LA Kings, LA Dodgers, LA Angels, LA Lakers.
My my favorite adventure park is Knott’s Berry Farm and my favorite sports team to watch are the LA Dodgers.
